Blackburn's inaugural "Fast First Friday's" track night, at DISC
A small, but very enthusiastic contingent benefited from a diverse session of strong, safe racing on Friday night. Results are now published on the web.
A combined A/B/C Grade raced a scratch, elimination and a couple of 3-Lap Dash sprints, before a great Madison training run of 40 laps. Under the guidance, encouragement and tutelage of Club President, John Nicholson, all participants enjoyed the opportunity to practice this growing element of Club and Representative Track Racing, despite two team-mates coaxing the other off the rails from opposite sides of the track! They followed this draining exercise, with a quick 20 lap scratch race, to further sate their desire for competition on the night.
The combined D/Novice Group enjoyed a scratch, elimination, heats and finals of a 3-Lap Dash Derby, and those keen souls fought out a great scratch race to finish off a good, safe nights racing. Comments from all in this Division, many of whom had never raced at DISC, appreciated the diverse program and the smaller numbers in which to try their hand.
The next "Fast First Friday" at DISC is Friday 4th December. Open to all clubs and members, put it in your diaries!
Thanks to all racers, and the volunteers for making a terrific night.
Friday training sessions at DISC take a hiatus this week (no training this Friday 13th November), but continue on the 20th and 27th. All members, and all clubs, are most welcome.
