Well done also to Marc Prutton and Kain Nunn for making the final: they were the lone outmarkers and had a lot of work to do to try and keep the field at bay. Louise Bourke - in her first foray into the open women's racing on the board track - put in a mature and smart race to ensure a good bunch finish in both her races. Watch out for her in the future! | 28/11/04 | Graham Woods - 2004 Clubmember of the Year. Congratulations to Graham Woods for winning the Clubmember of the Year Award voted on by members at our 2004 Presentation Night. Graham is a worthy winner having been a non-competive member for many years (at least 5 according to my records) for the sole purpose of assisting the club and club members. Although Graham is known by most as the rider of the motorbike pacing riders at training and track racing, Graham regularly attends all club meetings and assists at all club track races. A quiet modest man who only ever speaks well of others, Graham is extremely liked and well respected by all. Congratulations Graham! |

For handicap races, riders in grades A, B and C (division 1) will compete in one race (typically 6 laps) and riders in grades D, E and F (division 2) will compete in another handicap (typically 3 laps). |

Junior Equipment Restrictions. (J17 and below)
The ACF Technical Regulations have been amended (Rule 3.9.03.3) and will be
effective from 1st Oct. Rule 3.9.03.3 now reads: "For all events wheels shall comply with UCI Regulation 1.3.018 with the sole exception that construction of the rim shall exclude the use of composite fibres (Carbon, Kevlar, Aramid and similar fibres)". My interpretation is that the 28 spoke and 30mm rim depth limitations have been lifted - and the rim material type restriction added - however please read the regulations yourself and if you have any doubt contact the ACF. |

| 03/08/04 | Blackburn takes GOLD in the State Club Teams Champs . This years State TTT were well represented with 6 teams from Blackburn. 2 Junior teams tackled the challenge, and an ever reliable Masters Men's team rode hard as usual. Unfortunately our usually formiddable men's team was absent this time - but will surely be back next year to show their strength. The day undoubtedly belonged to the women of Blackburn who fielded 3 teams (including the first ever Womens Masters team) and ran away with the Gold by a margin of 2min 24s. Congratulations to Kathy Watt, Audrey Quick, Rachel Rademaker and Kirsty Bortolin (team #1) on a fantastic ride - and to coach Simon Quick for building our women's ranks to such a level. A great show of committment and team spirit was displayed by not only those who rode the event, but also parents and partners who drove the 4 1/2 hours round trip. Lucklily the weather was good! Thanks to all that participated and made sure that Blackburn had a strong presence. For full results visit the CycleSport Results page. |

| 05/04/04 | 2004 Senior and Masters Club Track Championships Were complete on 27th/28th March - with the Scratch Race, Sprints and Points Race having been postponed from their scheduled date in December due to poor weather and controversial rulings on the points race. Club policy on awarding places in competitions.
As a result of some discussion and debate on this topic
(see August E-Newsletter and news article of the 03/09/03) the executive committee have passed some changes to the policy.
The changes will be in affect for this coming 2003/2004 Track and Road seasons.
In short, only two entries in a category will be required to stage a race for that category and medals will be awarded to the first 3 finishers regardless of entry numbers.
The new policy is detailed under Club Championship Competition Rules and will be in affect for the coming 2003/2004 Track Season.
Please note that the awards to be presented at the coming presentation night are based on the old policy as it stood at the time of the 2002/2003 Track and 2003 Road Championship events. |
