Aggregate Competition Rules

Each year, the Club holds two Aggregate Competitions; one for Track, and one for Road.

Points are awarded for participation as well as for gaining places in the graded and handicap races hosted by the Blackburn Cycling Club excluding Opens. The competition rewards those riders who regularly attend our races and show improving, or at least consistent, performance.

The races which count towards the competition are those hosted by Blackburn and published on our season's Race Fixture (but excluding Open status events).

The points are awarded as follows:

The points above will be awarded regardless of the number of starters and finishes in a race; i.e. If only 2 finish a road race, the points awarded are 7 and 5.

Points are awarded to the outright place getters only. That is:

Note that for a track race event (or potentially a road event) having heats, the participation points are awarded for competiting in the event and not for all the heats and final - and the points for placing are awarded for placing in only the final.

For team events (eg team sprints, pursuits, madisons, team scratch races) only participation points will be awarded.

Introduced with the Siemens Junior Racing - for ITTs where Personal Bests are recognised (as opposed to a competition between riders) those achieving a Personal Best are awarded points as if 1st place was achieved.

In the case where there are insufficient entries to hold "official" racing (as occasionally happens at track meets when entry fees are not taken, numbers not distributed and no prizemoney), the participation points only are awarded. Similarly for events which are considered "novel" events participation points only are awarded.

At the end of the season, the winners of the competition will be the riders with the most points in each of the following 4 classifications.

  1. Juniors (i.e. Men and Women in U17, U15, U13, U11)
  2. Women (i.e. Women in U19, U23, Elite and Masters)
  3. Seniors (i.e. Men in U19, U23 and Elite)
  4. Masters

The winner in each category will be awarded a trophy at the Club Presentation Night - generally held in November of each year - with the second and third placegetters receiving medals.
