MultiLane StopWatch - Cheat Sheets
The clubs primary stopwatch is fairly complex and the instruction manual - is not the easiest to understand.
The following instructions may help first time users.
As a hand held stopwatch with memory backup
- If using the printer, plug in the external power supply, turn both power supply and printer on.
- Select
MODE button several times until 1:TRACK 2:ROAD appears
- Select:
2 ENTER 1 2.
You should have displayed SINGLE - NNNN
- Take a note of the digits represented by the N above. This is used to find the results in memory later.
- Start of race push
START/LAP
- Repeated pushes of the
START/LAP will record the elapsed times from the start recording the place (potentially a lap)
NOTE:
- After each push of the
START/LAP the display of
the time will pause on the screen for ONLY 4 SECONDS.
If you are writing down times, get it down quickly.
- There is no review of the past times captured in memory until the watch is stopped.
- You can optionally push the numeric buttons to record the
bib no for the time last recorded.
After pushing the numeric buttons push ENTER to save the bib no entered.
- Select
STOP/RESET to stop the time. Time can be written down.
- Select
STOP/RESET again to reset the watch
OR EDIT to review the times (see below).
- The
SINGLE - NNNN will again be displayed with N having been incremented by one.
- All is ready to repeat from step 4.
To review times in memory
- Select
MODE (or EDIT if just stopped watch) several times until SINGLE - NNNN appears.
Note that SINGLE may show as MULTI depending on what mode was used.
- Select the
<= and => buttons to find the right value of NNNN.
- Select
ENTER.
- Select the
<= and => buttons to review the times and associated details.
- Select
MODE to get out.
As a hand held stopwatch – lap times of 1, 2 or more riders
Such as tracking lap times of two riders in a pursuit. Each lane may represent a rider. There are other applications.
- If more than one rider to be tracked set up an additional buttons
(
START/STOP button may be used as lane 1)
- Connect LINK GATE to stopwatch
- Connect LANE BUTTONS into lane 1 (if preferring button to using
stopwatch
START/STOP), lane 2 etc.
- Select
MODE button several times until 1:TRACK 2:ROAD appears
- Select
1 1
Should be in test mode.
Push handheld buttons holding them down and check that the appropriate lane buttons is diplayed.
- Select
MODE
Should have TRACK - NNNN displayed.
Take a note of the NNNN for retrieving from memory later.
- At this stage the bib numbers of the riders represented by each lane can be pre-entered. This is not required (see for use with computer below)
- Select
EDIT
- Enter the bib no for the corresponding lane (lane 1 front straight) and select
ENTER
- Enter bib no for next lane (lane 2 back straight)
- Select
MODE
- On race start push only one of the buttons to start the watch.
- Pushing a lane button (or the
START/LAP will record lane/bibno place and lap number in addition to the place (at that number of laps) and the time.
- Select
STOP/RESET to stop
- Select
STOP/RESET again in order to repeat from step 13
OR
Select EDIT to review the results just captured.
NOTE:
The watch has a problem that if TWO buttons are pressed at the same time
(ie within 1000th of a second) one time may not be recorded.
There are many times when the buttons are pressed with 100ths of a
second when you here just one beep but both times ARE recorded.
It is VERY RARE that the times are dropped but it has happended.
As a stopwatch feed into Computer for instantaneous review
and processing
For use with MULTI LANE Software: set up and use as per above

For use with the BBN Race Timing Software
- If using more than one button to capture times of a single rider (typically an ITT), set up watch with multiple buttons in lanes 1, 2, 3.
- Connect watch to PC via serial port or serial-USB converter.
- Set up as for Hand held stopwatch lap times of one or more riders
- In setting up, enter fictitious bib no for each lane button. This is important to get the watch to send the time to the PC immediately on a button press.
